You are about to become acquainted with a vast entity known as the Ministry of Health – a sprawling tapestry encompassing some fifty hospitals and an innumerable user base. A tapestry that is constantly being woven and rewoven day by day. Over a thousand threads are added and removed every month – an arduous and painstaking task for even the most skilled team of weavers. And not even the hands of those most experienced weavers are immune to slipping.
With every slip of the hand, with every stitch dropped, a loose thread may be left in that vast and especially delicate tapestry. A loose thread that is just begging to be pulled.
We are, of course, talking about manual onboarding. It should be simple, and on paper, it is. It’s a process that’s identical every time – what could possibly go wrong?
Take that one process, multiply it by a thousand, and add in an admin team that most assuredly are competent to do the job – except they’re having to do it a thousand times, on top of myriad other workflows. Now we start to see the problem.
What we end up with is what’s known in the business (and probably in several other places) as an administrative nightmare. With over a thousand movements taking place per month from just on- and off-boarding alone, is it any wonder that mistakes start to creep in? Ultimately, it doesn’t really matter that these workflows are identical for each instance – no one is immune to human error, and when these workflows are all handled manually, admin teams get overwhelmed, and the risk of misconfigurations increases. And as we learned in our first instalment of The CoreView Zone, it’s potentially only a few short steps from one tiny misconfiguration to a tenant-wide security incident.
As ever, though, we don’t like to fearmonger without offering up a solution, and in this case, it’s a solution with which we’re well-acquainted: automation. The process of on- and off-boarding is by its very nature repetitive, and rarely – if ever – changes, and it’s the very thing that CoreView is built to handle.
Added to which, there’s another benefit. Let’s take another look at our Ministry of Health. How about if we told you that using CoreView to automate these workflows over a period of three years saved the Ministry the equivalent of 12 years’ (or 3120 working days) worth of admin every single year? You pass the workflow over to CoreView, and not only do you eliminate the risk of human error, but you also free up your admin team to deal with the parts of their job that do need their attention.
We admit, it does sound a bit unbelievable – which is why we invite you to see for yourself. If you’re curious, make sure you book a demo below:
We have time for one last foray into the CoreView Zone, into the darkest corners and crevices of the human psyche. Next time, we’ll be diving into one of the most pervasive and deep-seated fears of IT teams across the globe: ticket escalations.
