That title might be a touch misleading – as much as we’d love a David Attenborough-style documentary about Team Kite (our unique social structure would make a truly fascinating study for any anthropologist), it would require an investment of time we just don’t have. Being the best cybersecurity distributor in the world doesn’t just happen, after all.
What we always have time for, however, is getting out into nature and helping to make a positive difference to the environment. Well, when the weather’s this nice, it’d be rude not to, wouldn’t it?
Let’s take a look back at what we got up to out in the wild!
Beaumont Leys Allotments
On the 19th June, our first group of volunteers from Team Kite descended upon Beaumont Leys Allotments. Before we go any further, we would like to take this opportunity to stress the importance of adequate sun protection, because it really was a scorcher of a day.

With that public safety announcement out of the way – after a quick orientation session, during which we developed a deeper understanding of the correct use of a scythe, the team donned their sunhats, rolled up their sleeves and got to work cutting back the overgrowth and hacking away some truly vicious brambles.
It was a tiring day, but a rewarding one, creating not just a satisfying dent in the overgrowth, but also new allotment space for members of the local community! We’d like to say a big thank you to The Conservation Volunteers, who made this first excursion possible.
Colwick Nature Reserve
That accounts for one half of our team – what did the other half get up to?
Just a month later, on 23rd July, another intrepid band of Team Kite volunteers (accompanied by trusty canine companion and honorary Team Kite member, Max) ventured out into the untamed wilderness (also known as Colwick Nature Reserve), for another day in the open air. The day saw the team clearing space ready for planting, as well as building a brand-new dead hedge – an ideal nesting spot for local wildlife.
There might also have been time for some contemplative (not to mention Instagrammable) moments down by this enviably scenic lake.
Not too much time, though – it was back to work soon after!
At the end of another satisfying day, the space cleared by the team was unofficially dubbed ‘Kite Meadow’. Never let it be said that we suffer from an overabundance of humility at Team Kite. A big thanks to Nottingham Green Guardians for giving us this opportunity!
